Namdal Bruk stretches across more than 500 square kilometres in four municipalities. The landscape is made up of wide valleys, open mountain ridges, clear waters and endless forests, shaped by the forces of the North. At higher elevations, small birch and pine trees dominate, old and slow-growing in the harsh climate. Snow remains for a long time, often well into early summer. As it melts, countless small streams fill and wind their way between rocks, marshes and heathland. Lower down are dense spruce forests, large lakes and broad salmon rivers. The area is rich in plant and animal life, with moose, reindeer, game birds, birds of prey and fish throughout the river systems. Visitors can enjoy hunting, salmon and trout fishing, hiking, ski touring, and picking berries and mushrooms. Throughout the year, the Norwegian landscape reveals a different character – from the midnight sun of summer to the deep stillness of winter.
